Virginia Veterinary Dentist Faces License Suspension

July 15, 2025

A Virginia veterinary dentist is currently under investigation after 26 documented accusations were lodged against them. According to at least some of the complaints, pets died while under the care of Dr. Barron P. Hall. Others allege Hall performed improper procedures that have negatively impacted their pets’ quality of life.

As of this writing, the case remains in process. In the meantime, however, the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine has ordered the suspension of Hall’s license.

Hall’s case isn’t unique. A licensed professional accused of misconduct may face license suspension even before it’s determined that wrongdoing genuinely occurred. Multiple Clients File Complaints Against VA Veterinary Dentist

Again, Hall’s case comes after 26 complaints were filed against him. The following represent just some of the complaints and accusations clients have made:

  • According to one client, Hall performed unnecessary mass teeth extractions on her dog. This has allegedly resulted in a diminishment of the dog’s quality of life, as the dog was left with only six remaining teeth.
  • Another client stated they brought their dog to Hall for gum treatment. They allege that, upon bringing their dog home, all its stitches came out, resulting in a large hole in his gums. After the dog didn’t eat for three days, the client brought their dog to another animal hospital. Ultimately, they had to euthanize their pet.
  • One complaint alleges that Hall failed to properly shave and scrub a feline patient before inserting an intravenous catheter as part of an operation. This may have increased the cat’s risk of developing an infection.

According to several who’ve lodged complaints, some clients have ended up being billed substantially more than expected for Hall’s services. They allege he may be performing unnecessary procedures and treatments at least partially so he can bill clients for more money.

A Board panel will conduct formal administrative hearings regarding Hall’s case on August 14 and 15, 2025, at the Virginia Department of Health Professions Perimeter Center. The outcome of these hearings will determine whether Hall faces any disciplinary action, which could include permanent loss of his professional license. Once more, however, his license is already suspended pending the case’s outcome.
