Ohio Board Takes Action Against Nurses with Florida Nursing Degrees

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Jul 23, 2024 | 0 Comments

The Ohio Board of Nursing has now joined nursing boards across the nation to suspend and revoke the licenses of nurses who earned their degrees from one of several Florida nursing schools. The FBI's Operation Nightingale implicated those Florida nursing schools, alleging the sale of fraudulent credentials while naming thousands of involved nurses. The Ohio Board of Nursing's Notice

The Ohio Board of Nursing's notice, presumably transmitted to dozens of nurses who hold licenses and practice nursing in Ohio, demands that the nurses complete an Investigative Questionnaire. Your answers to that questionnaire may determine whether you keep or lose your Ohio nursing license. Do not answer the questionnaire without first retaining the skilled and experienced assistance of our premier attorneys.

The Ohio Board of Nursing's notice also invites the allegedly involved nurses to complete a “Voluntary Surrender form,” forever giving up their Ohio nursing license. Do not complete that form without first consulting us. Your act, far from voluntary and instead compelled by the board's extraordinary threat, could cause you never to work as a nurse in Ohio again. It could also cause you to lose other professional licenses and the ability to work as a nurse in other states.

How We Can Help

The Ohio Board of Nursing's notice states expressly, “You are welcome to consult with an attorney, at your expense, before completing the questionnaire or the Voluntary Surrender form.” We can say that you are not only welcome to do so, you are wise and prudent to do so. You may not appreciate all that you have at stake in your Ohio nursing license. You may also have legitimate defenses to the allegation the Ohio Board of Nursing implies in its notice.

We may be able to help you turn back the Ohio Board of Nursing's threat and retain your license. You may not have attended one of the involved Florida nursing schools. Even if you did attend one of those several schools, you may have attended and graduated before the alleged fraudulent scheme of selling fake degrees and transcripts began. And even if you attended one of those schools after the alleged scheme began, you may have earned every one of your nursing credits. We can help you make your best possible defense argument.
