A health worker working in the Maricopa County jails ended his life after being accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with an inmate. The employee, who worked for Correctional Health Services-Mental Health, was being investigated for inappropriate sexual behavior.

During the investigation, detectives were waiting outside the accused's home with a search warrant when they heard a single gunshot and went in to find the accused dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Facing Investigation is Not the End

Healthcare workers and other professionals may face accusations and be investigated for issues including ethical and moral violations, inappropriate patient behavior, sexual relationships with patients, and more. While being investigated is certainly a serious issue and must be dealt with carefully, it is necessarily not the end of a career.

Taking the right steps - which can include consulting with the Lento Law Firm's Professional License Defense Team, gathering evidence in your favor, and putting up a strong defense – can often end in a favorable outcome with little to no sanctions or penalties. Even if you are facing a fine, sanction, or even revocation of license, there are ways of minimizing the damage to your career.

The experienced attorneys at The Lento Law Firm can negotiate on your behalf and help minimize potentially adverse outcomes. You also often have the option of appealing an unfavorable decision and earning yourself another chance to defend yourself.

Even if you have exhausted all options and are faced with a revoked license or other sanctions, everything is not lost. Licenses can be re-obtained, and careers can be restarted or changed.
