Arkansas Doctor’s License Suspended Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
A doctor in Arkansas has had his license suspended after being accused of engaging in sexual contact and relations with a patient who was also a member of his staff. Doctors are, of course, prohibited from inappropriate sexual contact with patients, but even consensual sexual relationships can violate state Medical Practices Acts and result in disciplinary measures—including the suspension or revocation of a medical license.

Caught on Camera
Dr. David Diffine, M.D., of Jonesboro, Arkansas, had his medical license suspended via an emergency order issued by the Arkansas State Medical Board after it received a complaint in July of 2024. The order states that Diffine engaged in “sexual contact, sexual relations, or romantic relationship with a patient.” The complaint was accompanied by security camera video of the alleged sexual conduct as well as the alleged sexual harassment of staff members.
“The video shows, among other things, Dr. Diffine performing sexual acts with a staff member while other staff members were present and watching. The video also shows Dr. Diffine walking throughout the clinic naked,” the order states.
Diffine previously had his license suspended in 2017 for overprescribing medications, though his license was reinstated, and the charges were dropped once the board found no evidence to substantiate the allegations.
This time, with video evidence in hand, the board will hold a hearing to determine the fate of Diffine’s professional license. The board could move to issue a temporary suspension or to permanently revoke Diffine’s license to practice medicine in the state of Arkansas.
Diffine’s case is a powerful reminder of the threat anonymous complaints can carry against professional licenses. Diffine’s career is in jeopardy because his alleged behavior was reported to the board. Don’t let that happen to you.
